Stradbroke Island Gorge Walk

The Gorge Walk is one of the most Insta-worthy destinations on Redlands Coast so don’t forget to charge your mobile before you hit the road – you might spot a camera-friendly koala or kangaroo along the way!

The area is a haven for a variety of marine and birdlife that overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is perfect for whale watching (between June and November) and dolphin spotting. While you’re taking in the incomparable view over the gorge itself, keep your eyes peeled for giant sea turtles riding the waves below.

The Gorge Walk is a truly magical experience

The 1.2-kilometre boardwalk follows the headland of Point Lookout, offering views that are simply breath-taking. The clear waters make it easy to spot marine life, including turtles, dolphins and manta rays.

Straddie’s impressive headland walk called the North Gorge walk is located at the north western end of Point Lookout and is the best vantage point on the island to watch the whales and marine life pass right before your eyes.
The walk encompasses the best of both worlds, with its raw and jagged headland to one side, and natural bushland on the other. Known for its best viewing experience of migrating humpback whales, the Gorge Walk also has a unique rock formation called the ‘Blow Hole’, similar to that of a humpback whale. The Gorge Walk is a North Stradbroke Island icon and reveals just how pristine and unspoiled the island truly is.
