Pingyao is located on the eastern banks of the Fen River, and is in the southwestern edge of the Taiyuan basin. It is adjacent to another Chinese Historic and Cultural City Qi County. Pingyao’s economy is largely agricultural and the region is famed for its beef. Other products from the region include grains, cotton, and lacquerware.
This time of the year the villagers were harvesting the Corn. The corn has been cut, and is now being cleaned ready for sale to the wholesalers who will sell the product. The farms are now clearing the corn stems and Harvesting the fruit preparing for the coming winter.
Pingyao is also harvesting apples and Pears, persimmons, and Dates. There were many roadside sellers with bags of dates and apples for sale besides their orchards and farms.
